iv done alot of fly fishing up there mulletman for trout and that can be very good spot fishing for them that is

well i always start of pheasant tails always a go to fly round there any size over size 12 and then bassic drys adams humpys dads fav and if you get a rwal hot day they will come up for cicadas most natraul patterns will work round there but those are the ones i use

The upper mac can yield some nice fish like this 8pound brown,taken on hare and copper nymph.

that trout looks like a sea run that has made it way upriver. I think there are some big resident fish as well though. I’ve caught trout with that silvery sea-run appearance in the hurunui north branch near lake sumner….

Fished out from Darfield on the Waimak last night, saw nothing, cobber picked up a nice brown trout on a salmon size black and gold ticer

I fished the mouth between 3 and 5 this arvo, saw one fish caught. Looked like a salmon but I was too far down the line to be sure. Surely there has to be another couple of good days yet ???
