I’m really not sure but perhaps some fishing outfit in the city can sort you out as far as getting the rod modified with a low mount reel seat?28/04/2009 at 1:57 am #13061
Those poseidons look interesting especially the 14 footer with the two tips sections, not a bad price either. works out at about $150NZ28/04/2009 at 1:59 am #13062
Some come with up to 3 tip sections, all rated for different line weights and casting weights. Means that you can use the same rod for pretty much anything. I’m surprised they don’t have anything similar here in NZ.28/04/2009 at 6:23 am #13065
The posiden that I have is one of those with three tips.
Makes quite a difference .
Low reel is just the way that the S A guys use their rods. Its also the way that most tournament casters set up their rods.
I cast over grass with the reel low and aside from the Posiden my other rods are used reel up.28/04/2009 at 6:28 am #13066

I suppose if you ordered from a South African site the shipping would be quite a lot to NZ? I’ve just been looking at the Daiwa UK: http://www.daiwasports.co.uk/products/sea/# and Daiwa Australia: http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/daiwa.cf … s=surfrock sites, and they seem to have a really great range with some pretty good rods. I might look at buying from an Australian retailer if I can’t find anything in NZ. I think I will keep my Daiwa Sl50 with my solaris, but that means I need something for my Axeon reel.28/04/2009 at 6:58 am #13068
Have a look at the abu range of rods
yes freight is a pain but you can bring in two rods at the same time for the same freight amount28/04/2009 at 7:55 am #13071
mind you I didn’t look at freight which would probably be way too scary28/04/2009 at 8:00 am #13073
Their price is 1679 rand , The way they write as R1 679 catches me out as well.28/04/2009 at 8:04 am #13074
thought that looked cheap!10/05/2009 at 9:13 am #13173
Kilwell Powerplay Distance 222 Surf Rod
Price is at $150 and guy has said $180 buy now. Looks like a very good deal to me, and he says it’s only been used over grass. Just thought I post if anyone was interested.
Edit: Yeahnah, that’s not by any chance you that already questioned on the auction?10/05/2009 at 9:20 am #13174MiliwolfParticipant
You should not temp me with stuff like that10/05/2009 at 9:22 am #13175
Yes I have Bugger off away from that 222 you lot lol
I have plans for that rod that involve a hacksaw10/05/2009 at 9:23 am #13176
Well you’re definitely getting a good deal. Pity I didn’t get to it first because even $180 + $20 shipping is a good price for it.10/05/2009 at 9:23 am #13177MiliwolfParticipant
It is designed to be used with inferior reels, probably explains why he is selling it for so cheap.
