Those poseidons look interesting especially the 14 footer with the two tips sections, not a bad price either. works out at about $150NZ

Some come with up to 3 tip sections, all rated for different line weights and casting weights. Means that you can use the same rod for pretty much anything. I’m surprised they don’t have anything similar here in NZ.

The posiden that I have is one of those with three tips.
Makes quite a difference .

Low reel is just the way that the S A guys use their rods.Its also the way that most tournament casters set up their rods.
I cast over grass with the reel low and aside from the Posiden my other rods are used reel up.

I suppose if you ordered from a South African site the shipping would be quite a lot to NZ? I’ve just been looking at the Daiwa UK: http://www.daiwasports.co.uk/products/sea/# and Daiwa Australia: http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/daiwa.cf … s=surfrock sites, and they seem to have a really great range with some pretty good rods. I might look at buying from an Australian retailer if I can’t find anything in NZ. I think I will keep my Daiwa Sl50 with my solaris, but that means I need something for my Axeon reel.

Kilwell Powerplay Distance 222 Surf Rod

Price is at $150 and guy has said $180 buy now. Looks like a very good deal to me, and he says it’s only been used over grass. Just thought I post if anyone was interested.
