Off to try our luck at Taylors Moki Point tghis weekend, never been there before, but it has an X in the x marks the spot book…anyone any tips for there? Anyone ever even fished there? Looks like it could be a good palce to lose tackle from google maps. Weather forecast looks good though and will be a change from Baileys. Mullet are around down at owls terrace, if you are looking for bait.

Been there a couple of times. Very good spot to loose gear. I’ve had more luck over the other side at Black Rock than at moki point. Berley would probably be a good idea.

prior to the coastal netting ban, I used to target “moki and butterfish” using setnets around taylors mistake and port levy,

on a good day fish were prolific, as a consequence we sometimes had to land on the beach just to clear the net,

I am convinced species such as moki remain largely untapped by local landbased fisherman, apart from those who target them at birdlings flat during summer,

It would seem due to increase in fish numbers spearfishing is becoming very popular around these parts,

there are many good species of fish within reach of christchurch over summer..mullet, ky, greyboy, rig, elephantfish, moki, butterfish, bluecod,

trumpeter, monkfish, maorichiefs, kingfish, conger eels, trout and salmon to name a few,

thinking outside the box….food for thought
