Hi Folks, This is a call out to all fishers and users of the Waimakariri River Canterbury. Please read today’s Press article on Silver Fern Farms Belfast plant. ( 10 / 5 / 2014 ) The river was clean for the 1st time in decades in 2012. Silver Fern is now regularly dumping Olympic sized swimming pools of toxic waste back into the lower river.

They are saying they cannot use Bromley treatment plant anymore due to EQ damage. That it would be cost prohibitive to truck waste. In the year ending September 2013 there total revenue was $ 2 Billion.

They may continue to dump for another 5 years. A one off, on occasion dumped at night on out going tide can be tolerated but for 5 years !

Please support F & G on there submissions. Or any other river users make your voice heard.
