ParticipantI have an ultra-lite 1kg spinning rod that was made by and I inherited from the late Lynn Harris.
Lynn had a real small Italian Alcedo reel but someone stole it from his house before I received the rod, I want to use the rod but need a small reel to suit. not too keen on the cheap Chinese offerings. I have a couple of USA made Penn 4300ss and a Fin-Nor F-302 that might suit but they are used on other rods so I’m looking for another reel. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance

ParticipantI’m just using a cheapish Shimano Sienna on my ultralight rod but my mate likes to buy the expensive stuff and has got a Stradic ci4 1000 and I must admit its a very nice reel for the money, Think he paid around $250ish.

ParticipantThanks Troutfishernz,
was flicking through the Shimano site last night and saw those Stradic reels, they look the part! Hmmmmm might be a bit of a sell up on Trade Me here to raise the funds required, best wishes, pete08/01/2014 at 11:12 pm #24436yellowfin
ParticipantI have a stradic CI41000 and it is by far the best trout reel I have ever used. I have had it for a couple of years & it never misses a beat and has smooth drag and is quite grunty for it’s size. The only downfall is they don’t come with a spare spool so I had to shell out $120 for a spare, but I’m hoping to get 10years plus out of it!

ParticipantI think for the $$ the range of Stradics are near in the best you can buy

Participantyeap stradics are really awesome reels..have had my ci4 2500 for two years now and cant fault it..i got a sustain 4000 for my salmon reel and i reckon the stradic is better..just alot smoother and nicer to use over long periods..i wanted a stradoc 4000 but they only do them in white…yuk!

ParticipantNot Ultralight but Ive got a couple of Tica reels not overly impressed with them really, Had streamstar ls3500 which developed a sticky drag soon after I brought it and then it started to grind after 6 months or so. Then got an Abyss Tl9000 which is rough to wind after year of use. I normally get lowish end Shimanos Like the Sienna,Sonora etc now as they seem good value for money.

ParticipantGet the warranty then… There faulty and most decent ticas come with a 10yr warranty.
Must be all the 1-2lbers tfnz
Hell on ur drag system15/01/2014 at 9:00 pm #24494troutfishernz
ParticipantStreamstar was a cheap reel and it did get abused a bit, so never really bothered with the warranty,Certainly had more than 1-2lbers hooked up on it, Still think it should have lasted a bit better though. Talked to TiCA about the Abyss and going to get send it back soon.
