Surfcasting around Auckland

    Hi all, I’m new to surf casting and would like to know a few good surf casting spots around auckland. Any help will be appreciated.

    Im not sure about places around Auckland because im not from around there and i think most people on this forum are from the south island but if you go to this link you should be able to find out alot of info http://www.fishing.net.nz/asp_forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=19

    Hi there you should try the South Head of the Manukau Harbour there are lots of fishing possies up there.

    Thanks mate….havn’t been there yet but will have to check it out now…was up at destruction gully and whatipu before last weekend….destruction gully wasn’t too bad but whatipu was dead….

    Hi Zed I have never fished that side of the Manukau from all accounts you can loose a fair amount of gear there.I’ll be going to Wattle bay on Saturday arvo as the tide is low at 7-30pm.Should be able to land a few Gurnard and Trevally this time of the year,but you never know with fishing and that’s why it’s so unpredictable.Cheers.

    U rite man…we had quite a few snags at whatipu and and the current was so strong that it was seriously dangerous to go anywhere near the ledges… heard about takatu point up north near Omaha….supposed to be quite good spot….will probablt venture up there in the long weekend…
