hey guys went out to spencer park on sat arvo with a few mates and took the Torpedo out managed to hook up 2 big elephant fish and 12 good size rig.
Have noticed alot more elephant fish out there at the moment maybe due to the warmer waters. We had the torpedo out about 1.5km off the shore drifted down the beach a good half a km time we pulled it in. Elephant fish took the squid. Anyone else had much luck out at Spencer?
I have thought of getting one of these things myself, bit worried about snags though.
i have herd reports of them getting hooked and broken off, Its apitty they havent worked out a twin line system to drop a fishing line out there and to be able to retrive the torpedo before the main line sinks to where the snags are aye,
i would be interested to hear from anyone who has solved the snag problem,
i fish spencer park as much as the conditions allow but only been out 2 times down there this year but early oct nothing around then,,fished there approx this time last year a got 5 eles and released 3 and lost 2 all from 5.30am…..7.30am home by 8.am best ever normally when i go i get 1-3 eles use only pipi there have not targeted rig but they used to get lots in nets before the ban can on
Yea I’m suprised they havent come up with a failsafe for the longline as its alot of money to just dissapear if the line broke. how about a remote control setup where you can use radio gear to retrieve it if it failed cant see what this wouldnt work aslong as the gear was coverd up from getting water into it.
We are going to head back out to spencer this week after work one night if the conditions are good. What else apart from ele fish and rig are caught out at spencer? We are keen to try lots of different baits on the longline and see what else we can attract.
