ParticipantHi everyone. We’re heading on up to Kaikoura (weather permitting) this weekend with a boat (good sized run-about) to see if we can catch some fish. Never been there before and as it always looks so tricky with all the rocks one can see from the road I was wondering if anyone had some tips for me. i.e. launching the boat. Where to drop the lines for hopefully Blue Cod. What the weather patterns are to look out for for good and bad conditions. We were thinking of just sleeping under a tarp on the side of the road but is there a cheap place that is popular to stay at ?
Hope to chat soon.

ParticipantHi Smokin Joe. It’s a fibreglass boat. 16′, 140 Yamaha. Love all the helpful info you can give me. You go there a bit ?

Participantbeing glass, South Bay is the best option.
we had tinny and inflatable, and enabled far more launch points, but these could be dodgy in a heavier glass boat.18/01/2011 at 9:05 am #17174yellowfin
