Participantthat could be worth a nosey, lake forsyth and birdlings flat used to be a major eel fishery for the ngai tahu. There was a project in the works to put in a huge culvert between lake forsyth and the sea as this is where they used to catch a load of eels before us white fullas filled in the natural break

ParticipantThanks for that, I might watch it. So are you sure that its about eeling at birdlings flat, not some other place?

ParticipantThey will be doing it in Lake Ellesmere or in Lake Forsyth. Not in the sea, it was just a promo for the show. They looked to be in a lakeish surrounding. Not sure why they say Birdlings Flat in the promo, it’ll be close to there anyway.
Cheers
