About the Waimakariri mouth

    Just wondering, has anyone here ever caught a fish other than mullet, ky, salmon and flounder at the waimak surf?

    I might go there this week, trying to catch something bigger than the usual yellow-eyed mullet.

    i hav caught red cod and doggies as well as trout

    Is that frequent in the summer? Also, am I allowed to go there without a salmon license?

    yes you are allowed to fish with no licence priovided you dont catch salmon and trout . the kahawai and flounder etc are fin without a licence. the red cod are not frequent during summer. mainly at night during winter
