Its definitely worth a crack, I have an old 9 weight glass rod that I’ve caught kahawai and mullet on SWF. I cut down an old double taper line into a shooting head backed with 30lb and nail knotted together.
Most of my saltwater fly has been in the sounds, not sure what you’d catch that far south.
