The Waimak is the abbreviated name of the Waimakariri river. Just north of christchurch.

Tua Tua is the Maori name for Pipis which can be collected from most of the surf beaches at low tide with a bit of digging.

You can also get a key from the council for the gate onto the beach at spencerville so you can drive a 4wd down the beach right down to the south bank of the mouth of the waimak.
