The council are saying the water at all local beaches is safe for swimming, surfing etc so can see no reason not to take fish from them. The rivers would be a different story at the moment though. Is that a whitebait, brownbait or piece of toilet paper lol.

Hi mate. Havnt been down the pier for a couple of weeks but prior to that I was catching plenty of rig and eles but most of them were too small to justify keeping. Will be trying again over the next couple of weeks then I am off to nelson for a week as well, so hope to get into a kingi and snapper or three myself.

  • Cable bay, Rabbit Island, Tahunanui back beach are all possibilities for a snapper. I think one of the warves is open to the public for fishing and there is a platform on Rocks road that is pretty much opposite the cut that you can fish from.

Hell postingonpot you are quick to have a go at others but I see plenty of tall tales from you on these boards, have you managed to find that camera usb lead yet? Or is it a case of smoking too many hooters on the way home perhaps or just a bit of fishermans licence? Lol. Perhaps the next time you are in buddying up to Pete while shopping in his…[Read more]

  • Paulo we pretty much do have a platform like that in the New Brighton pier. Not as large perhaps but everything else is there, resturant, bar , cafe, toilets etc. The only real difference is the shelter aspect, which a tarp takes care of, and the cost aspect where we have to pay nothing to use it.

  • Very nice catch Andy. A trip out to Baileys could be worthwhile now.

  • [quote="Yakkaman":en8p4fp2]Good catch Pmaster not bad for a beginner

Sweet to see the new sign up at the pier showing all fish and crab limits in many different languages.[/quote:en8p4fp2]

Security and the rangers are back down there during the weekend days now too. Even handing out a few warnings and taking down details, isnt that right…[Read more]

Ironic is someone hiding behind a non deplume on a public message board taking cheap shots at someone over an issue without knowing what the hell they are talking about.

  • tracknz replied to the topic What the HELL at the pier in the forum Surfcasting 12 years ago

There is signage up on the pier stating only one rod and/or 1 crab catcher per person and there will be a new sign that is largerand clearer in multiple languages going up soon. As for pissing off the pier, at 1.30 in the afternoon the dirty lazy pricks need to walk down the pier to the public dunnies as that is what they are there for. Some of us…[Read more]

Hey guys. This was the behaviour that had fishing up there banned a couple of years ago. Unfortunatly it is not possible to have someone up there watching those wankers all the time but you are within your rights to say something to them or call the rangers on the phone number posted on all the rubbish bins. They only keep doing it cause they get…[Read more]
