Well I decided to head back out the sounds to try for some more Kenepuru Gold so packed and headed out at dark with plan of pulling an all nighter to get two tides with one at the change of light.
Was very slow going in the dark and I lost nearly half a spool of braid to what could of only been a large stingray. It had to much in it to be an eagle…[Read more]
Some wee snapper from the sounds on friday. Kept 5 , released 3 under size and lost 3 to the rocky ledge. Also caught 4 or 5 Kahawai and some eagle rays which were starting to become a bit of a nuisance
Took home a pair of Rig today , Caught 5 , released 3 all about the same size and all female . Apart from them it was only pup tope that made an appearance today . No doggies or cod things are looking up
oh no doubt , where theres one theres got to be others but they definitely arent here in the numbers that ya get down Canterbury and the likes . Next to no reports at all would suggest there is actually bugger all here .
lol yer thanks Its a bit of a deal cos out of the thousands of baits Ive put out there over the years ive never caught one , I dont know anyone that has caught one there and the old joker next to me reckoned he’d been fishing this stretch for 30 years and this was the first he had seen so yeah lol hopefully its a sign of change , more fish and…[Read more]
Fairly poor fishing this morning . The only catch worthy of a mention was a solid Tope an easy 15kg . Pic doesn’t do her justice but she was a solid fish. Let her go and nothing but doggies after that . Cant wait for the easterlies to f off

First for me off this stretch of beach but nah used to go down to old wharf in Kaiks to get em years ago when this forum was just a pup .
got a couple hours in tonight after work , fishing was slow , dropped a good rig in the breakers but managed to pull couple mokes out of the brown water . not much else about the squid and fish baits didn’t even get a sniff.
Heading north from Seddon , utuwai is the last bridge before the 45km corner where ya climb the Weld pass from the south side. Yeah I dont go down wharanui beach rd , actually turn off just after the Waima . I go south of cape campbell when the nor-west is gusting and Wharanui area is the stop when I cant be bothered going any further.
Yeah thats a cool pic . Think I passed you about the Utuwai overpass this arvo , yellow kayak onboard? I headed down to Wharanui hopeful for a Moki but they were a no show. Wind was a bastard but the sea was clear and calm . Banged out mussel , crab and prawn there were no takers so I changed to the trusty old Trev and squid and quickly had 3 of…[Read more]

Was only a fortnight ago I went two one of my spots and just got through the gate and here was a pile of shit old bottles and mc’donalds rubbish and shit . It was like the prick just opened all the doors on his car and cleaned it out right there on the track that takes ya down to…[Read more]
