Both competitions are fundraisers for the community and all staff are volunteers. The kaikoura competition is only once a year and 60 fish ain’t a hell of a lot of fish. None of the fish at kaikoura was going to go to waste as spectators are welcome to take the unwanted…[Read more]PierMaster replied to the topic Amberly results as follows – Kaikoura ?? in the forum Surfcasting 8 years, 4 months ago
Fish of the day is gurnard at most restaurants! Caught fresh from the bay

Yeah that bite time seems pretty on the money, i fished the aerials out at birdlings from 5-8.30 caught school sharks but got some decent sized ones 50lb, 48lb, 12lb, 10lb and a few babies
PierMaster replied to the topic carpet sharks in the forum Surfcasting 9 years, 11 months ago
Have caught plenty of them around the 5kg mark at birdlings flat, one night me and a mate did an overnight trip at birdlings flat and were plauged by them, sometimes we got two at once! they are just like big dead weights. Got most of them on large fish baits as they have quite large mouths, they also have a werid smell

I usually use ox heart or sheep heart but chicken frames…[Read more]

just go and catch your own from the pier or southshore
they are very easy! You can sometimes buy them from pakn save moorhouse or riccarton otherwise some fish shops have them, wainoni fish supply sometimes have them, but usually when you buy them they are quite large crabs and often fairly exspensive and often catch permitting
