    I tried that ky recipe fishforpot……..they were gooooooood, similar to a mock whitebait fritter but with kawhai in them,

    another tasty fish is herrings, ….if you can manage their fine bones when filleting,

    they are nice battered and fried…….topped off with tuimato sauce :grin:

    I agree on the fried mullet(yellow eye), very tasty, i tend not to fillet them tho just a pain, typically just do a butterfly cut through them and leave the backbone in and fry it off then remove all the bones as a whole when cooked seeing as though the whole lot will just peel away. Grey mullet which are the bigger species are beautiful smoked.

    hapuku is by far the best dipd in flour nd shallow fried in oil for 3 mins each side

    my top five for most of my life..cold smoked snapper is in there too..and fresh butter fried grey mullet..and smoked roe..

    yea see, ive caught them at kaikoura and ashworths beaches, and i baked and smoked them baked one tasted realy bad, but the smoked one was ok,
    also smoked gurnard is very good

    I really enjoyed reading through the recipes. I had recently caught a Salmon and tried out fried Salmon. It was great. Looking forward to some more such lovely recipes to try it out.
