    We have fished the South Island’s West Coast beaches from north of West Port down to Haast. The surfcasting along this coast is excellent. I

    ive fished at gentle annie a bit just north of westport and have seen mullet

    used to fish at okarito a lot when I worked in Franz Josef. Used to get some decent sized schoolies, elephant fish and rig. Great sea run trout too when the bait were running.
    Have heard talk of the odd snapper being caught at ross, amazing that they range that far south.

    make sure you take a couple of sabiki rigs or small hooks for mullet, have found kids get bored real quick if they aren’t catching
