Saw a kingfish at french pass yesterday. So a few warmer water species are still about up here.

Just gotten back from down the coast, was just south of the Clarence at the end of a long sandy beach near pine trees. There was a strong cold wind and the sea was fairly rough. Fished for several hours over high tide but not even a bite.

This would probably be my 4th trip recently which resulted in no Sharks….. A trend is developing here.

Been out twice without getting anything worth keeping but was able to fill in half the day watching a longliner about a mile out pull in fish after fish after fish after fish on and on and on……..

If you dont want to eat it put it back.

the summer fishing maybe “NEARLY” over but fishing inwinter is fine sure there may not be many kaiwhai eetc around but there still are a few and the ones that are around are usually quite large long with doggies good to catch to perhaps save for bait. skate will be around and red cod a highly under rated fish the red cod.
