Second discharge to Mataura River under investigation Angler Tony Dawson laid a complaint with Environment Southland after finding a green discharge from the Mataura wastewater plant in the Mataura River.
Environment Southland is investigating another discharge into the Mataura River, allegedly from a Gore District Council wastewater plant.
Angler Tony Dawson said he took photos of a “muddy green” discharge, allegedly from the Mataura township’s wastewater plant outfall pipe into the Mataura River on Wednesday afternoon.
“It just about made me cry. A beautiful brown trout was rising to take flies off the top of the river through this green plume, which had discoloured the water.”
