Record-breaking rainbow trout could have been caught in Lake Ruataniwha
Frank Bluch and his 29-pound rainbow caught flyfishing at the Lake Ruataniwha outlet.It took him about seven minutes to reel in, and once out of the water Australian angler, Frank Bluch knew he’d caught a whopper fish.
South Canterbury could be home to another world-record catch after Bluch caught the massive rainbow trout on just a 2kg tippet at Lake Ruataniwha earlier this month.
Bluch said the rainbow trout was over 29 pounds (13kg) and was “so big it could barely move”.
