Has anyone fished or driven over the Rakaia today? I’m keen to know what the colour is like so I can decide between there and the canals for tomorrow.18/08/2012 at 7:57 am #21431

Thanks baitman, thats great to hear. Sounds like I won’t be getting up so early then. What condition were the fish you got today?18/08/2012 at 10:03 am #21435
not bad the big one was fresh run and in good nick the others were fat enough.
The mouth is close to the southern end I caught all mine closer to the south huts while the tide was low between 12 and 2.
I posted pics in the trout section22/08/2012 at 6:42 pm #21464
I helped a guy land a nice fish about 5lb. He was stoked coz it was his second fish in 3 casts on a vibrax that a kind chap had given him a few days prior at the same spot when he was having no luck. Looked very similar to the vibrax you were using baitman.22/08/2012 at 7:27 pm #21465

Did you catch a few? I saw a salmon porposing in the gut when I was there.22/08/2012 at 10:56 pm #21467
I got a couple on Tuesday night and 1 on Sunday morning. There is every chance of getting a salmon when you are fishing the gut for searuns so its great to hear they are there.
