Hi there, we are heading down to Ngakuta Bay for long weekend after xmas for wifes birthday (keen fisho). Any good fishing spots in the area and is it worth taking my boat down from Wellington. Cheers for any help

A few decent land based spots in and around the Grove Arm. Just avoid the extremely shallow mud flats. The wharf in Ngakuta can also produce at times but can be crowded over summer. I quite like the small wharf at ‘The Grove’, it quite quickly drops away to about 8m. Can catch Snapper, Gurnard, Rays, Kahawai, Treavlly and more while fishing there. A boat does open up more options and have had same pretty good Snapper fishing out of Ngakuta..

Ngkuta Bay is also fairly close to the Kenepuru and Mahau Sounds.
