Is there any meths that should be avoided when smoking fish i.e. is there any dye or other additives that should be avoided or are they all safe? Thanks.

Rather than using meths, I use a small single element gas cooker under the smoker as this allows me to better regulate the heat. That said, I have used meths before and it works OK. There is no issue with the colouring in the meths, this is only there to discourage people from drinking it.
