Fished 3 hrs at Amberly dis morning (bloody Hot) and got only one big hit and reel attack ( not to be confused wit angina attack). But no hook up.Using crab so probably
a rigoid. Then drove to Pines and counted ova 20 ele,rig and schoolie heads strewn all ova beach.Someone got amongst it last nite.

According to the met-service it was 40 in Timaru today, 36 elsewhere in Canterbury. Think we got 34 in Blenheim.

It was Birdlings who had the angina attack, not the shark. Why else would he have Nitro? To treat any fish which might be having a Agenia….

too nice a night to not go wet the gear ……a last minute decision saw us head to spencer park ….500mtrs nth of the gate as it was near high tide and the sand soft ……

Didnt bother with wader as the water was so warm ….waded to my bellybutton and cast just behind the outer shelf of the channel , open sea and no more …

Water was dirty , small amount of grass etc and a slight rip to the south ….3 cow elephants for our trouble …..no rig nor schoolies ….

I’m no expert mate, but it would depend on how much this stherly roughs up the sea…bait choice is important for sure with crab and shellfish being hard to beat!!

or swell map. technically theres no time its “too” rough would just depend on how well ya nads are screwed on weather your willing to fish it. Bait size isnt too important when using crab you could catch a ele or rig i would think the hook size would be more important with a 5/0 proberbly being suited for both . Dont often use tuatua mainly crab when targeting rig and eles though have not done overly great this season
