ParticipantI have only fished in lake Wanaka ounce at the outllet [where the Clutha exits the lake], and found it to be a nice place to fish, I landed a 3 and a 1/2 lb rainbow trout using Johnsons Super Kobra.
Very good evening rise, caught in autumn going onto winter.
Is there a chance of getting landlocked salmon spinning from the shore?
Apart from the wharf where you can see huge fish cruising
, too bad fishing isn’t allowed there

ParticipantDepends if you are fly or spinfishing, but the rivers fish quite well as does Glendhu bay in the weed beds.

ParticipantI would do a bit of both but I’m not that experienced with fly-fishing yet

ParticipantHave a look at this forum it gives advice on using light lures and how to use them, though braid is not always required, if you don’t like the idea of spending
$10 on a single lure than just buy a few lighter luresThe StormHard-bodied plastic lures do cast better than rapalas are half the price and work just aswell, they also have neutral bouyancy which is what you want for shallow weedy areas, as it will stay just above the weed.
