We live in christchurch and some days when we want to head out to birdlings the day is great and no wind in christchurch but when we get out there its

real windy and the swells are huge.

Just wondering if any one can tell us how to tell what the day would be like out it birdlings flat when you want to head out there

    Cheers Mitchell

First link gives you a forecast for the wind …….
Second link gives you an idea of the swell , webcam at Ashburton river mouth
Last link gives you the actual wind etc

And keep in mind , the wind can often be onshore at Birdlings ……yet 5-6kms down the spit at Baileys it can be blowing offshore ….

Alot of the recent threads could be solved by an easy search on the forum.

Ideally at birdlings you want a declining swell less the 1m, with NW fishing incoming tide in the evening.

I hate to say it , but spring has got to be the worst time for fishing on the coast ..west coast I mean ….feb/march is the best over there … ya take ya chance I guess …
Purely from a conditions point of view of course
