High country opening Sunday November 1

    Hi all I see the high country openings on a Sunday this Year 1 November 2015.
    It was always the first Saturday in November.

    Even though 1 November is a Sunday the actually Canterbury High County Opening isn’t until Saturday the 7th of November. It is always the first Saturday of November regardless of the day of the month. Just to be double sure I rang North Canterbury Fish & Game this morning and the nice lady assured me the lakes will be opening on Saturday 7th of November 2015. Good thing you brought it up though!

    Hi Grant,
    Yes, it has always been first Saturday in November. Unfortunately due to internal breakdown the Angler Notice for this season is an exact copy of last years so 1st November will be the opening day. Luckily we didn’t make any changes to the AN this year so its only the roll-over of dates that was caught.

    That’s silly. It means that those who go up to the lakes for the weekend will only be permitted to fish on Sunday only. I have never seen that before!

    North Canterbury sports fishing regulations for the 2015-16 season says, “Coleridge, Lake 7 Nov – 30 Apr” and winter extension 1 Jun – 31 Aug.”
