[Pork Chop]

While we were fishing in the Marlobrough sounds we caught a Elephant fish on the rod. Our 12yr old hooked it and we first thought it was a stingray. It was very exciting for her. We released it back into the water as we thought it may have been laying eggs. Has anyone else hooked one in this area. ( we had the head of a Pilchard on for bait)

Never hooked one in the Sounds but heard of them being caught there.

When I was up in Havlock I went to some peoples house and they said they go out and get rig and elephant fish somewhere around that area. Think they said something about getting blue cod as well even though they weren’t allowed.
