hi there guys,
it looks as though my family and I will be spending some time in Dunedin over the next month or 3, so was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any pointers on how to catch salmon In the harbour and if a boat is needed or not…
I fish the east coast rivers a lot so have all the gear, just need to know what to do
thanks in advance

fish numbers are much lower than in the east coast rivers, but they are there.
most people troll tices with paravanes in their boats down the shipping canals, others suspend sprats mid to bottom from floats from the wharf in the middle of town.
maybe 1 or 2 caught this week from the wharf that I have heard of.
im preferable to spinning or softbaiting from shore around the mouth of the Leith near the stadium, or trolling a ticer or softbaiting from my Kayak around port chalmers at Carey’s Bay and Blanket bay and Goat Island near the shipping canal.
sadly, my advice is not sound, I am yet to land anything this season14/01/2013 at 5:50 pm #22403
Im planning to try trolling a spinner of the back of my kayak too. Works in the rivers so I cant see why it wouldnt work in the harbour.
