Hi there does anyone or has anyone heard of people using the Canterbury lure rod in the waimak?
Either for salmon or sea run trout
Sea runs more likely but either ither I’d rather try up between the bridges as the mouth would be to wide and too slow flowing and macintosh’s would be far to bizzy to be slinging lead around there with everyone crowding there when the river clears up
Cheers any help would be great thanks14/01/2013 at 9:00 am #22397yellowfinParticipant
just remember anywhere apart from on the inside of the mouth is foul hooked, ive seen a few fish hooked on the outside of the mouth or under the jaw kept when they are actually fowl hooked fish
in terms of lure fishing the waimak. even between the bridges wouldnt be of much use to you, still to slow… need to be up in some skinny water were the fish are heading through
may be ok for trout at a low tide if there is plenty of current14/01/2013 at 10:32 am #22402bradicleParticipant
