Fairly certain the gap is designed to allow the pier to move around a bit encase of earth quakes and general environment movements. The people were vaporised the moment the quake hit!

Nah the vapourising people was due to the fact the way the cctv system works, it only captures movement, so the moment those people went off screen it stopped recording and the next motion event was the quake.
But yeah it looks kinda funny now you see em now you don’t and then whammo lol

conspiracy nah, experience yes it’s what i do(CCTV setup, installs), but i know where you are coming from cos it does look pretty funky when you see them disappear and then wham but that cam wasn’t displaying the time which i found unusual so you couldn’t see the time diff
