ParticipantAnyone know any websites/tackle shops that stock these?
I know Rebel sport stock them but last time I was there they had sold out within a day and had none left
The also don’t stock them regularly…
So any suggestions would be helpful
PS I have tried other brands of baitcatcers, wasabi, owner etc and have found them next to useless

ParticipantMaybe but the particular rig I use has Black Magic on it and is in a case like many of the other black magic flasher rigs.
It says on the fron it is made to target, yellow eyed mullet, sprat, garfish, and other baitfish, each hook has a jelly shrimp thread on the shank.07/02/2009 at 10:02 am #12458Miliwolf
ParticipantI believe I have seen them in the Blenheim hunting and fishing store (little use for you). I have always purchased cheap sabiki rigs and throw them away the moment they get a serious tangle.
Can currently get 3 wasabi for $5 locally which is not bad buying.

ParticipantYeah have seen those cheapie 3 packs of jigs, I think they have 3 hooks on each jig if I’m not mistaken?
Do you use them in combo wih bait? or just jig for mullet?07/02/2009 at 8:09 pm #12463yellowfin

ParticipantWell I havn’t seen any in the black magic flasher rig sections of any of the stores [Smith city, hunting and fishing, Centrefire Mcartheys, or any other local tackle store], but as I have said before Rebel sport are always sold out. But I’ll ring them all up tomorrow when they are open to see if they do happen stock them, but I’m not particulary hopefull

ParticipantReally? Last time I went down there i didn’t see any.
Thanks I’ll have a look tomorrow when they’re open07/02/2009 at 11:59 pm #12474yellowfin
Participantwell so the black magic website says at least lol
08/02/2009 at 1:57 am #12478fishsnatcher
ParticipantWell if the almighty black magic says so
What part of their site did you go into to find that out?
Was this where you went?
http://www.blackmagic.co.nz/retailNZ.html#souIt says they stock BM tackle but doesn’t specify which products,
I’ll have a look down at ‘Gales Sports’ in Mosgiel and ‘Wazzas fly box’ anyway, even if the don’t stock the sprat jigs I havn’t been there, so who knows what other useless items of tackle I can pick up…08/02/2009 at 6:34 am #12481Miliwolf
ParticipantHave you asked if one of your local black magic dealers could order a bunch in for you?
Failing that, purchase a pressie card from the post office and buy them from gofish.

ParticipantGot a couple of black magic sabikis off here as you can pay by credit card

ParticipantApparently putting a SP with a good action on the bottom of the jigs when jigging makes them work better, it would certainly give them more action….
I’m gonna give that a go tomorrow when I go for a salmon fish.28/10/2009 at 9:18 pm #13831Fishy Bishy
ParticipantSounds like these….
This is roughly how they look when imported into NZ from China or in the case of the ones you mentioned, places like Singapore. Black Magic usually market these style sabikis under the trademarked Wasabi brand keeping their own NZ Made brand (Black Magic) specific to NZ rigs. Other companies do this too and at HotShotz, we run them under the RedHeadz brand which is also trademarked in #8.
Lately, they (BM Tackle) have been putting some imported products (rigs) into the Black Magic packets too but unless it says NZ made probably isn’t. -
