ParticipantHello,
I along with others are holidaying in New Zealand for 10 days in January. I was hoping to get some fly fishing done along the way as we’re going to travel the west coast, onto Queenstown and perhaps on to Gore. The only problem is the crowd wouldn’t be as keen on fishing as I would. I have a lend of a travel rod and will bring my own reel and net and intended to ‘sneak’ off for an hour or two, when I could. My budget and fishing time wouldn’t suite getting a guide.
So I’m wondering am I wasting my time or are there small rivers, lakes that I could hop on to when the time was right. Also, am I right in saying, I’d need a year long licence for the days in January.

Participantyes milli you are correct it has been replaced by a 24 hour licence and at about 22 dollars it would probably be cheaper getting the full season one

ParticipantThanks for that. Queenstown to Gore would make up the latter part of the holiday, I’ll be hoping to get a line wet before that too. So I guess I’ll have to get a full season one, which seems a tad unfair.
