Lake Alexandrina sits at 732 m above sea level. At this high elevation, it regularly receives a heavy coating of snow in winter. The 6.4sq km lake, which measures 7.2km long by about 900m wide, is home to fishing baches (cribs), and a wide variety of birdlife.
