Waimakariri River Fishing: excellent salmon fishing and searun brown trout fishing. Top spots: McIntoshes Rocks, Kaiapoi River mouth. Banana Hole. Good river-mouth fishing. Rainbow trout upstream. Best salmon fishing is in January to March. With March and possibly April being the best months for salmon. Searun brown trout early in season especially near SH1 bridge.
