Tony Busch has lived most of his life in the South Island and as a boy, he spent his spare time fishing and hunting on the West Coast. From the mid-1970s, he has been a professional trout fishing guide specialising in helicopter trips into otherwise inaccessible waters.

Over the past 12 months, he has driven over 25,000 kilometres in 4WD vehicles to research and photograph the fishing spots described and plans to regularly update and enlarge this book. He is the author of Trout Fishing: A Guide to New Zealand’s South Island, which for over 15 years has been the trout fishing `bible’ for anglers in the South Island.”
